(East) Seongsan Ilchulbong 城山日出峰 성산일출봉

Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) is one of the special places that people visit to see the sun rise. It was listed as first of the “Ten Best Sceneries of Youngjoo,” is a tuff cone crater that was formed when a volcano erupted under the ocean. It was designated as Natural Monument No. 420 in year 2000. The cone has a large basin atop, reminding viewers of a meadow. One thing to keep in mind is that it is not easy to climb as it rises to 182 meters above sea level, with a steep slope. Yet the wind that embraces your entire body on the peak will more than make up for the sweat you shed to get there. 

On top of Sunrise peak stand 99 chiseled rocksin a crown-like formation, and between them rests a 30,000 pyeong (approximately 99,000-square meter) meadow. As the crater also resembles a castle with turrets, it was named seongsan (castle hill). The meadow which catches the full force of the wind is one of the things that makes Ilchulbong so charming. 

每到岁末年初，城山日出峰就成为欣赏日出的人们汇聚的地点之一。在“瀛洲十景” 中首屈一指的城山日出峰地处大海的中央，是由海底火山喷发时形成的火山口，于2000年被指定为第420号天然纪念物。峰顶的火山口形成宽广的盆地，让人联想到草原。但有一点温馨提示，就是攀登有些吃力。海拔182m，非常陡峭。满身大汗登上峰顶后，海风吹拂，所有的疲劳都将一拂而去。如果赶上好天气，欣赏一下壮丽的日出，您一定会被日出峰的魅力所征服。

在城山日出峰的峰顶上，99块尖石围绕在火山口周围，如同一顶巨大的皇冠。中间有3万坪（1坪＝3.3平方米）左右的盆地。皇冠形的火山口恰似城郭，“城山”因此而有名。可以感受徐徐吹来的海风的盆地，也是日出峰的魅力所有。
